Why Most People Blend In & The 1 Way You Can Stand Out
How to stand out in a crowded space rather than just joining all of the other emulators, copycats and disingenuous carbon copies.
Let’s talk about differentiation.
How to stand out in a crowded space rather than just joining all of the other emulators, copycats and disingenuous carbon copies.
If you sound like everybody else, and look like everybody else, then you’ll just blend in with everybody else.
In other words, you’re invisible.
Being invisible means a lot of things.
On a very basic level, it means the likelihood of your creations gaining traction are slim to none.
On a deeper level, it means the likelihood of your creations ranking on any organic platforms (re: Google/LLMs) are also slim to none.
As AI tools become increasingly popular, and easily accessible, average, repetitive content is becoming the norm. It’s being mass created.
So in order to stand out, to provide something of value… you have to create something new.
Something different.
Differentiating yourself from the crowd has never been more important.
So, how do you differentiate yourself?
You start by telling the truth.
Not the truth, necessarily—the grand, absolute kind.
But your truth. The quiet observations, the lived experiences, the things you’ve seen that others might’ve missed. The way you notice the world.
Because no one else has your exact lens. No one else has your story, your timing, your rhythm, your way of saying just enough and letting the rest hang in the air.
And when you create from that place—not to impress, not to manipulate algorithms, but to express something honest—you begin to cut through.
Most people are too busy scanning the room, looking for what’s working. What’s trending. What the “top creators” are doing. And in doing so, they become echoes of echoes.
But real differentiation rarely looks like disruption.
It often looks like clarity. Like someone quietly saying what others have felt but couldn’t quite articulate.
It’s less about shouting louder, and more about tuning into a deeper signal.
You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.
You just need to make something that could only come from you.
Maybe that’s a story only you could tell. A tone only you would use. A perspective only you would arrive at—not because it’s outrageous or provocative, but because it’s real.
And that’s the irony—what’s most different often starts with what’s most honest.
And you don’t have to take my word for it.
As AI-generated content floods the internet and the overall quality continues to decline, Google has started placing more weight on something that AI can’t fake: original, first-hand knowledge.
Because AI can’t create from experience.
It doesn’t feel.
It doesn’t notice.
It doesn’t live.
That can only come from a human being.
So if you’re trying to stand out… stop trying to be different.
Start trying to be yourself, without dilution. Without the mask. Without the filter of what you think the market wants.
Because the real edge isn’t in mimicking what’s already working.
It’s in offering what only you can.
If this resonates—if you’re building something rooted in honesty, not hype—I bring this lens to every brand I help build.
Whether it’s strategy, story, or structure… the work should feel unmistakably yours.
If you’re ready to create from that place, let’s talk.
